In the late 1960s, a young David Bowie, hoping to land a cut as an aspiring songwriter, wrote English lyrics for a French song called \u201cComme d\u2019habitude\u201d. But Bowie\u2019s pitch was rejected. The label instead chose Paul Anka\u2019s adaptation, which became the Frank Sinatra standard, \u201cMy Way\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bowie\u2019s version is called \u201cEven A Fool Learns To Love\u201d, but he\u2019d eventually transform the song, and his image, into an art-rock touchstone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
