On this track, a longing 12-string riff sets the stage for the emotional aftermath of a disintegrating relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>When the day goes,<br>Love blows.<br>Out of sight, your mind,<br>It\u2019s yesterday again<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the following verse, Marr mentions Lou Reed\u2019s idyllic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/facts\/lou-reed\/perfect-day\">\u201cPerfect Day\u201d<\/a>. But even a perfect afternoon in the park will end. \u201cYou\u2019re going to reap just what you sow,\u201d Reed repeats, casting a gloomy cloud over his blissful day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>On the way to,<br>No good.<br>Paradise, old times,<br>Lou Reed and perfect days<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the moment when familiarity disappears. Maybe another nod to Reed, and Reed\u2019s \u201cSatellite Of Love\u201d, what the couple thinks they once knew about each other now feels utterly unknowable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Playing your song,<br>In old ways.<br>Was the satellite in her eyes,<br>All a mystery and game?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Love That Don\u2019t Belong<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Marr spends most of \u201cIn And Out Of Love\u201d looking at the past. But there\u2019s a hint of light in the chorus, as he glimpses a future beyond the heartbreak. His friends\u2019 breakup inspired the song, so perhaps this is wishing them both well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s the true story of a breakup, and unusually for me, it\u2019s a story song.
