An emotional ode to his home state, \u201cSeminole Wind\u201d features one of Anderson\u2019s best vocal performances. The title track of his 1992 album reached No. 2 on the Country Hot Songs Chart, buoyed by piano, fiddle, and Anderson\u2019s quivering voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Ever since the days of old,<br>Men would search for wealth untold.<br>They\u2019d dig for silver and for gold,<br>And leave the empty holes.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here he uses a combination of imagery and poetry, in an homage to Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>And way down south in the Everglades,<br>Where the black water rolls and the saw grass waves.<br>The eagles fly and the otters play in the land of the Seminole.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anderson moved to Nashville in the 1970s after graduating high school. Though he first fell in love with rock \u2019n\u2019 roll, a Greatest Hits release by Merle Haggard set him on a path toward country music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the chorus, Anderson feels the familiar warmth of his home. He may have moved away, but Florida and how it shaped him remained close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>So blow, blow Seminole wind,<br>Blow like you\u2019re never gonna blow again.<br>I\u2019m calling to you like a long-lost friend,<br>But I know who you are.<br>And blow, blow from the Okeechobee,<br>All the way up to Micanopy.<br>Blow across the home of the Seminole,<br>The alligators and the gar.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tribute to a Country Legend<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As news broke about Anderson\u2019s death, tributes from fellow country music stars poured in. Blake Shelton, a friend and frequent collaborator of Anderson\u2019s, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Dex7L4YRLIP\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=AmfEKVmSmb81zLAGD3vtkcm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> on Instagram:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am sick and I am stunned. But I am a very lucky man. I got the opportunity to find out that my hero wasn\u2019t just the guy I hoped he\u2019d be. He was so much more than that. John was my friend. I got to see him last Sunday and I don\u2019t even know why but I told him I loved him. That is what fills my heart in this moment. My love and prayers go out to John\u2019s family.
