Many classic rock songs are notable &#8220;diss tracks.&#8221; Some of which are about fellow band members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/facts\/the-beatles\">The Beatles<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/facts\/fleetwood-mac\">Fleetwood Mac<\/a> fuel passionate feelings behind their lyrics, directed to someone close by. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;Too Many People&#8221; by Paul McCartney<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Too Many People (Remastered 2012)\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/y21aX98QHSc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The song <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/facts\/paul-mccartney\/too-many-people\">&#8220;Too Many People&#8221; <\/a>by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/facts\/paul-mccartney\">Paul McCartney<\/a> and his wife, Linda McCartney, was directed at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/songs\/john-lennon\">John Lennon.<\/a> The song was written and released after The Beatles broke up, in 1971.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the lyrics in the song take direct jabs at Lennon: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<em>That was your first mistake \/ You took your lucky break and broke it in two \/ Now what can be done for you? \/ You broke it in two.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McCartney and Lennon formed The Beatles together, and thus, when they broke up, it was &#8220;broken in two.&#8221; In these lyrics, McCartney suggests that Lennon had destroyed the success of The Beatles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There were a few digs on his album before mine. He\u2019s so obscure that other people didn\u2019t notice them, but I heard them. I thought, Well, I\u2019m not obscure, I just get right down to the nitty-gritty,&#8221; Lennon told <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beatlesinterviews.org\/db1980.jlpb.beatles.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Playboy <\/em>magazine<\/a> in 1980.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;How Do You Sleep?&#8221; by John Lennon<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How Do You Sleep? (Remastered 2010)\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/teD9t-lO_o0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Much like how McCartney aimed his song at Lennon, Lennon aimed a song at McCartney. The song, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/facts\/john-lennon\/how-do-you-sleep\">&#8220;How Do You Sleep?<\/a>&#8221; took jabs at McCartney. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lines, &#8220;The only thing you done was yesterday \/ And since you&#8217;ve gone you&#8217;re just another day,&#8221; attack McCartney&#8217;s writing and dedication to the band. McCartney wrote the song &#8220;Yesterday,&#8221; and in Lennon&#8217;s song, he proposes that&#8217;s about all he ever did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite having some heated back-and-forth rivalries, Lennon and McCartney did begin to mend their friendship before Lennon&#8217;s passing in December 1980. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-songfacts-fact\"><div class=\"songfacts-card songfacts-card-horizontal\"><div class=\"songfacts-content-container\"><div class=\"songfacts-header\"><h3 class=\"songfacts-card-title\"><span>Songfacts: <\/span><span class=\"songfacts-title-part\">How Do You Sleep?<\/span><span class=\"songfacts-separator\"> | <\/span><span class=\"songfacts-artist-part\">John Lennon<\/span><\/h3><\/div><div class=\"songfacts-meta\">Album:<span class=\"songfacts-album\">Imagine <\/span><span class=\"songfacts-releasedate\"> [1971]<\/span><\/div><div class=\"songfacts-body\"><p class=\"songfacts-card-text\">Lennon discussed this song in an interview with BBC Radio 1 DJ Andy Peebles on December 6, 1980, two days before his death. He recalled: &#8220;I used my resentment against Paul, that I have as a kind of sibling rivalry resentment from youth, to write a song. Nicks wrote the song <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/facts\/fleetwood-mac\/silver-springs\">&#8220;Silver Springs&#8221;<\/a> in 1977 following her breakup with fellow band member <a href=\"https:\/\/www.songfacts.com\/songs\/lindsey-buckingham\">Lindsey Buckingham.<\/a> The two began dating in 1972 and broke up in 1976. However, the tension does not stop there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most iconically, Fleetwood Mac performed &#8220;Silver Springs&#8221; live at the Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank, California, in 1997.
