Tommy DeCarlo saw his dreams come true when he became the lead singer of the classic rock band Boston<\/a>. DeCarlo had been a fan of the band since he was 12 years old. In March 2007, original lead singer Brad Delp tragically took his own life, and it inspired DeCarlo to write and record a song dedicated to his favorite singer. His daughter suggested that he post the song on MySpace, where it gained some traction. Shortly after, he sent his song to Boston’s management. Guitarist and Boston mastermind Tom Scholz reached out to DeCarlo, who was working at a Home Depot at the time. Scholz was impressed by DeCarlo’s cover of “Don’t Look Back,”<\/a> and he was recruited to continue the band’s legacy. He first performed with the group at a tribute concert for Brad Delp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a strange coincidence, DeCarlo’s death on March 9 falls on the same day as Brad Delp’s death 19 years earlier. DeCarlo was diagnosed with brain cancer in September 2025. The band then cancelled their remaining 2025 tour dates so DeCarlo could focus on his health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
