• She was born Morna Anne Murray in Springhill, Nova Scotia. Though both of her parents practiced medicine - her father was a doctor and her mother was a nurse - she developed an interest in music at a young age.
• After she graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1966, she taught physical education for a year at a high school in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.
• With her first hit, "Snowbird," she was the first female Canadian solo singer to land a #1 on the US charts (Easy Listening).
• She was married to music producer Bill Langstroth from 1975-1998. They have two children: a son, William, and a daughter, Dawn.
• She is an avid golfer.
• The Canadian Post issued a limited edition Anne Murray stamp in 2007.
• Her 1968 debut album, What About Me, was only released in Canada until the US re-issued it five years later after a string of hit singles made her a regular on the charts.
• A museum, the Anne Murray Centre, was opened in Springhill, Nova Scotia, to honor the singer in 1989.
• Seven years after its 1980 release, Anne Murray's Greatest Hits album earned triple-platinum status, signifying sales in excess of three million units. Murray was the first ever female country artist to achieve that sales record with a LP. Her Greatest Hits collection went on to sell over four million units.
