Songfacts®:

  • This feisty, club-ready number finds a sassy Dua Lipa confident in her own skin.

If you don't like the way I talk, then why am I on your mind?
If you don't like the way I rock, then finish your glass of wine
We fight and we argue, you'll still love me blind
If we don't f--k this whole thing up
Guaranteed, I can blow your mind
    Mwah!

Dua Lipa explained to Genius: "Sometimes people are so scared about what you're about to do. One of the main reasons someone is attracted to you is because of who you are and because you have this fiery attitude and because you're so career driven, let's say. Or you're striving to be the best you can be. This is why this person has chosen you. And no matter how much they try to fight it, the reason that they'll love you blind is because they wouldn't have you any other way."
  • Dua Lipa wrote the sultry tune with Canadian producer Jon Levine (Rachel Platten's "Fight Song") and English singer-songwriter Lauren Christy (G-Eazy's "Me, Myself & I"). She recalled:

"I wrote the song in L.A. with a woman called Lauren Christy and a guy called Jon Levine. We were like, 'Why don't we just write about being happy in your skin and being proud of who you are?' The main meaning that I wanted to get behind it was the whole idea that you have to be proud of who you are and not listen to anyone that wants you to fit some sort of criteria or certain type of box."
  • This is one of Dua Lipa's favorite songs to perform. She told NME: "Yeah – the thing for me was that it's really fun to sing, it was always really fun to perform. It's just that song that you can really let loose to, and totally loose your mind."
  • The song's music video was directed by Kinga Burza (Katy Perry, Calvin Harris). It features Dua Lipa and other women going out for a night in London. We see them transforming the Barbican Estate into their very own catwalk.
  • The song featured in Revlon's 2018 "Live Boldly" ad.
