Songfacts®:

  • How do you follow three consecutive festive chart-toppers that parody '80s hits? Sausage roll obsessive LadBaby (aka YouTuber/dad blogger Mark Hoyle) and his wife Roxanne came up with a cunning plan: Do a spin on Ed Sheeran and Elton John's 2021 #1, "Merry Christmas," and draft in the two megastars to help them.

While "Merry Christmas" finds Ed Sheeran and Elton John rejoicing in spending Yuletide with their loved ones, "Sausage Rolls For Everyone" adds LadBaby's beloved pork-stuffed pastries to the festivities.
  • LadBaby released the song on December 17, 2021 when "Merry Christmas" was on top of the UK chart. Two months previously, Elton John had joked about a potential chart battle with the novelty duo for the coveted Christmas #1. "We've got the sausage roll man to deal with, haven't we? We've got LadBaby to deal with!" he said to NME of his and Sheeran's plans to release their festive collaboration. "Once we bump him off, we might have a clear path to a hit record. He seems to have the monopoly on Christmas records. And good for him!"
  • As previously mentioned, all three of LadBaby's previous singles were parodies of '80s hits. "We Built This City... On Sausage Rolls" is his spin on Starship's "We Built This City"; "I Love Sausage Rolls" is his take on Joan Jett's "I Love Rock And Roll"; "Don't Stop Me Eatin'" is his version of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'."
  • As with all of LadBaby's previous singles, all proceeds from "Sausage Rolls For Everyone" will go to food bank charity the Trussell Trust. Their mission is to support those with no money to feed themselves, while campaigning for long-term change to the structural issues that lock people into poverty.
  • The song debuted at #1 on the UK singles chart dated December 26, 2021. This meant LadBaby cooked up an all-time UK chart record with four consecutive Christmas chart-toppers, surpassing The Beatles (1963-1965) and Spice Girls (1996-1998) who scored three UK Christmas #1s.
