    The "pale blue dot" photo was taken by Voyager 1 from a distance of 4 billion miles. We're used to seeing photos of the Earth from space with details like land masses and oceans, but this one provides a sense for just how tiny the planet is amongst its surroundings.

    The lyrics to Dream Theater's song expand on what Carl Sagan had to say about the photo, calling for humankind to be good to each other during our fleeting time on Earth and to work toward saving the planet.
