Forget It

Album: We Are Not Alone (2004)
  • It's a crime you let it happen to me
Never mind, I'll let it happen to you
Out of mind, forget it there's nothing to lose
But my mind and all the things I wanted

Every time, I get it, throw it away
    It's a sign, I get it, I wanna stay
By the time I lose it I'm not afraid
I'm alive but I can surely fake it

How can I believe when this cloud hangs over me
You're the part of me that I don't wanna see

    Forget it, forget it
    Forget it, forget it
    Forget it, forget it
    Forget it, forget it
    Forget it, forget it
    Forget it, forget it
    Forget it, forget it

There's a place I see you follow me
Just a taste of all that might come to be
I'm alone but holding breath you can breathe
    To question every answer counted

    Just fade away
    Please let me stay
Caught in your way (forget it, forget it, forget it, forget it)

    Just fade away
    Please let me stay
Caught in your way (forget it, forget it, forget it, forget it)

It's a crime you let it happen to me
I don't mind, I love it, easy to please
Never mind, forget it, just memory
On a page inside a spiral notebook

    Just fade away
    Please let me stay
    Caught in your way
    I can live forever here
    Just fade away
    Please let me stay
    Caught in your way
    I can live forever here

How can I believe when this cloud hangs over me
You're a part of me that I don't wanna see

I can live forever here Writer/s: Benjamin Burnley, Jeremy Hummel, Aaron C Fincke, Mark James Klepaski, William Patrick Corgan

  • Dino from Middlesex North CarolinaDoes anyone remember who originally sang/wrote it? I was thinking it was The Alan Parsons Project, but could not find it.
  • Madcaplaughs79 from Lima OhioThis song is based on the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Its pretty obvious if you have seen the movie

"There's a place I see you following me, just avtaste of all thst might come to be"

"How can I believe when this cloud hangs over me"

"Just pages in a spiral notebook "

Watch the movie and you see the huge connection. Really well done.
  • Jaime Wilches from ColombiaI listened to this song and as soon as a felt the first rise on the the tone I also felt motivated to go a step forward in my live. I immediately saw myself in the future singing this song to the person in the mirror asking him to let me go always a step forward. I guess it really was like looking at the future because I can totally see myself listening this song to get me to move on, it happened 5 years ago with Rise above this of Seether and I just know this is my new anthem. I know this songs weren't written with this ideas on mind but thats the beauty of music, the beauty of art in general... When is good it cuts right through your soul.
  • Dawn from Salem OregonHello long time BB fan. Still curious to know what meaning id any the lyrics have. Ty
  • Becki K. from IowaMarcie, that's exactly where I went with it. My ex and I were both on meth and one day I woke up with a black eye and decided I was done. Our addiction had made us lose our home. The drugs made us crazy and jealous. I took my kids to a friend's house that I had only known for three months because he didn't know where she lived. I thank God for her everyday.
  • Alex from Folcroft, PaI love the smooth transitions of Ben's voice
  • Kelly from Kimberly, Withis song is amazing i love it so much. it reminds me of this guy that i once loved ( and maybe i still do) but it always remuinds me he's 2,210.12 miles away. And soon enough he will be part of the past, and we both know whats there will never be real.....
  • Sarah from La, Ca♥♥ I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! IT WAS ALSO PLAYED ON MY FAV. SHOW SMALLVILLE!!!♥♥
  • Jennifer from Santa Fe, NmI love this song! It makes me feel really peaceful and relaxed, yet feel all the thoughts that are spinning in my head.
Someone was wondering about other songs of theirs that have a "smooth sound," you should check out Rain by them, I like it just as much as this song.
  • A.j. from Chicago, IlIt's also played near the end of the American Pie movie spin-off Band Camp.
  • Alexx from Las Vegas, NvAccording to the end credits of the movie, this song was also featured in the Disney film, National Treasure.
  • Lauren from Honolulu, HiI'm just wondering if there are other Breaking Benjamin songs with this smooth sound. Everything else I've heard from them sounds like an entirely different band. This is almost Alan Parsons Project-sounding to me.
  • Joe from Atasu, KazakhstanPerfectly composed, it has the style and flow of Smashing Pumpkins, but it's own vocals and "aura" that makes it a perfect song. Beautiful.
  • Jepha from Citra, FlThis is a song that is SO AMAZINGLY COMPOSED!!!!!!!!!I think this is the best from BB!! (so far...)
  • Joe from Somewhere, VaIt reminds me of my relationship with a friend of mind (who I wish was more than a friend).

"Out of mind, forget it there's nothing to lose
But my mind and all the things I wanted"
The girl has told him no ("she does not love him"). He says it's okay but in his mind he would do anything to change her mind.

"Everytime I get it I throw it away
    It's a sign, I get it, I wanna stay
By the time I lose it I'm not afraid"
Every time she gives him a sign that she does not love him in that way he ignores it and continues to dellude himself that she will someday change her mind.

"There's a place I see you follow me
Just a taste of all that might come to be
I'm alone but holding breath you can breathe
    To question every answer counted"
He pictures what it would be like if she would return the love he has for her.

  • Marcie from Blairsville, GaWhen I heard this song...It reminded me of my exhusband when he got hooked on Meth. And its like reading his mind and looking into our life. I cried like a baby and now its my favorite song. I write poetry alot and this is a Hallmark in music....
When it gets to the part about a page in a spiral note book, its almost like they had read my journal. It still gives me goosebumps. Thank you so much for comming up with this brilliant song. The very , very best to you on every project that comes your way....awesome voice!!!!!!!! Cant wait to see what you come up with next.. Marcie aka/Mac
