Lefty Didn’t Expect to Pursue a Music Career When Graduating High School

Stella Lefty was raised in the Chicago area, in the village of Glencoe, Illinois. Glencoe is near Winnetka, which is located North of Chicago. She attended high school in Winnetka in 2020, and upon graduating, decided to go to college. She took classes at Tulane University in New Orleans, studying public health. Notably, Lefty admitted to Billboard she had “no plan of doing anything in music” upon graduating high school.

Her Last Name Isn’t Lefty

In fact, Lefty is a shortened version of her real name, Lefkofsky. Her father is billionaire Eric Lefkofsky, with whom Stella regularly posts viral videos. The two have a close relationship, and Eric has proudly supported his daughter’s musical ambitions. She was raised in the Chicago area, but has since relocated to Los Angeles.

She Contributed a Song To Scream 7

Released alongside the movie Scream 7, Stella Lefty contributed the track “The Kill.” It’s included on the soundtrack for the new film, which was released in February. The track parallels the themes of the movie, with suspense and lyrics about a toxic relationship. “The Kill” went viral on TikTok during promotion for the film. It would be this track that would later bring heavy attention to her new hit, “Boston.”

Stella Lefty Hasn’t Released a Full Length Album

Lefty is not only a brand new artist, but she also hasn’t released a full-length album yet. She has only released singles since 2023, with quite a collection of songs to add to a potential album. Her newest breakout hit, “Boston,” has many questioning when an album is due. In February 2026, Lefty signed with Atlantic Records.
