3 Fun Facts About Modern Country Sensation Ella Langley

The newest country sensation from Alabama, Ella Langley, has been dominating the charts since late 2025 and throughout 2026. With multiple chart-topping hits and a major collaboration with Morgan Wallen, Langley is at the forefront of country music. Her hits “Choosin’ Texas” and “Be Her” have taken turns at the No. 1 spot on the Country Airplay chart. Additionally, “Choosin’ Texas” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year, where it spent ten non-consecutive weeks in the top spot. Her second studio album, Dandelion, debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 in April 2026. With Langley’s new status as a modern icon, here are 3 fun facts you may or may not know about Ella Langley.

Ella Langley Performed for Cows on Her Family Farm

Langley was homeschooled until the 7th grade. In Hope Hull, Alabama, she practiced singing early on by performing in front of cows in the pasture on a farm, pretending they were an audience. She first learned to sing at church, and would sit next to her grandfather while he played piano. Together, they would sing the song, “Frog Went A-Courting.” While Langley was young, her grandfather passed away, leaving his guitar to Ella. That same night, Langley taught herself Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds,” and it was the first song she learned to play.

Before Her Own Success, Langley Wrote Songs for Other Artists

In 2019, Ella Langley moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a music career. Initially, she started as a songwriter in Nashville. Langley co-wrote the Runaway June track “Make Me Wanna Smoke,” which was released as a single in 2023. This was Langley’s first major songwriting placement. She also contributed heavily to Elle King’s 2023 album Come Get Your Wife. Langley penned five songs for the album, which peaked at No. 11 on the US Top Country Albums chart.

Ella Langley Made History in 2026

She made history as the first woman to simultaneously top the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country Songs chart, and Country Airplay charts. Langley achieved this with her hit, “Choosin’ Texas.” It was a remarkable feat that has put her among the top breakout artists of the year so far. Additionally, Langley was the first woman to hold the top three positions of the Country Airplay chart. She did this with “Be Her” at No. 1, “Choosin’ Texas” at No. 2, and the Morgan Wallen duet “I Can’t Love You Anymore.”
