Gracie Abrams has become one of the most recognizable pop acts in recent years. She first signed a record contract in 2020, but it would be her remix of Noah Kahan’s “Everywhere, Everything” that would place Abrams on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time. Following this, her second studio album, The Secret Of Us, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The album spawned four singles, with “That’s So True” peaking at No. 4 on the Hot 100. Her third studio release, Daughter From Hell, is set to be released on July 17, 2026. Two singles have been released ahead of the album, “Hit The Wall” and “Look At My Life”. Ahead of the new album release, here are four fun facts to help us get to know Gracie Abrams.
Gracie Started Out Playing Drums
Gracie Abrams is known for playing piano and drums. What many don’t know is that her first instrument was the drums. At 8 years old, she got a set and took drum lessons. Like most drummers, she saw the drums as a way to deal with aggression. You can really let out anger behind a drum kit. Abrams even claims she wrote her first song on the drums at a young age.
She Didn’t Finish College and Didn’t Have to
Not that she really needed to, but Abrams never finished college. Following high school, she enrolled at Barnard College in New York City to study international relations. After her freshman year, she took a leave of absence to focus on her music career. As we now know, this was a wise choice as her career has skyrocketed in recent years.
Abrams Won New Artist of the Year
In 2025, Gracie Abrams won New Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards. Previously, she had been nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards in 2024. Additionally, she was named Songwriter of the Year at the Billboard Women in Music Awards. Abrams’ diary-style writing has been a strong songwriting suit that has garnered wide acclaim in recent years.
She Opened For Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift
To help further launch her career, Abrams opened for Olivia Rodrigo on her sold-out Sour Tour in 2022. Since then, she and Rodrigo have held a close relationship. Following the tour, Abrams and Rodrigo collaborated on “Making The Bed”, which appeared on Rodrigo’s second album.
From 2023 into 2024, Abrams opened for Taylor Swift on the final leg of the Eras Tour. Much like with Rodrigo, she and Swift have since collaborated. The two co-wrote and recorded the song “Us”, which was included on Abrams’ second album. At the 2025 Grammy Awards, they received a nomination for “Us” in the category of Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
