Ella Langley Beats Morgan Wallen’s Billboard Record

“Choosin’ Texas” has been a huge hit for country singer Ella Langley. It might just be the biggest hit of 2026, and it also just beat an impressive record.

The song’s streak on the Billboard Hot 100 has continued. And it’s now topped the chart for 17 weeks, beating Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night”, which was No. 1 for 16 weeks. It’s the fourth-longest No. 1 run in the chart’s history. The song has broken other records along the way, including the longest-running No. 1 for a country song by a woman. It initially went to No. 1 back in February. The song was Langley’s first hit. And although it has been dethroned by other songs a few times, it keeps making its way back to the top. It was originally released in October 2025.

If the song’s streak continues to 19 weeks, it will tie with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey and “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X.

“Choosin’ Texas” is also still dominating on the TouchTunes Frontline Chart for the second consecutive quarter. It has been a regular fixture on the Hot Country Songs and the Songs of the Summer charts. It has also done well on the Spotify US Top 50.

“We loved the song when we wrote it, but none of us thought that it would be the song to do everything it’s doing,” Langley said when “Choosin’ Texas” first went to No. 1. “It keeps giving us a reason to celebrate new milestones.”

Although “Choosin’ Texas” is Langley’s biggest hit, she’s also had success with follow-up singles “Be Her” and “I Can’t Love You Anymore”, a collaboration with Morgan Wallen. The three songs occupied four of the top spots on the charts at the same time. It’s also been a great summer for country music in general. The genre has taken up all five top spots on the Hot 100.

Langley co-wrote “Choosin’ Texas” with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick, and Joybeth Taylor. The inspiration for the song came during a writing retreat with Lambert. It’s the lead single from her sophomore album, Dandelion, which was released in April and debuted at No. 1. Langley is currently on tour through October to support the album.
