Gracie Abrams Suffers Relationship Woes in “Here You Come, There You Go”

Gracie Abrams has announced a deluxe version of her third studio album, Daughter From Hell, featuring the single “Here You Come, There You Go.” The chart-topping LP will include five additional songs, following a trend of artists trying to prolong the lifespan of full-length releases in an era of vanishing attention spans.

Speaking of things vanishing, “Here You Come, There You Go” features Abrams suffering romantic woes with a partner who disappears and reappears like a card trick.

A Double-Knotted Rope

The track opens with Abrams feeling lost and confused about a fickle lover. This person cycles in and out of her life, convincing her it’s a fresh start.

Hell froze in my bedroom,
A phenomenon I came to.
Half-believing I never met you before,
That’s when you decide you want more
.

She feels emotionally tethered to the relationship, though any new beginning will soon end. Her lover returns with melodrama just as she’s nearly moved on.

So why bother? Relationships offer security, but this guy has mastered sleight of hand. Deception and disappearance are his moves.

Now you’re wanting back in,
Your big dramatic feelings.
Funny how it happens when I’m good, when I’m so,
Securely attached, I’m a double-knotted rope,
Undo me like magic, here you come, there you go
.

Bulldozing My Life Until It Shatters

Co-written with Amy Allen and producer Jim-E Stack, Abrams’s new single is powered by a giant, fuzzy bass line. Allen has helped pen hits for Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Harry Styles, and others. Stack’s credits include Lorde’s 2025 album, Virgin, and Bon Iver’s fifth LP, Sable, Fable.

Go, oh, you spit it out, say what you’re after,
Bulldozing my life until it shatters.
Oh, so my well-being’s not a factor,
No, it never stopped me loving you before
.

Returning to Abrams’s dilemma, she can’t say no to an ex. And her fans likely won’t be able to say no to the deluxe edition of Daughter From Hell, arriving November 20.

Here you come, there you go,
Call me your miracle,
Kill it dead, make it grow
.
