Megan Thee Stallion has revived her alter ego, Tina Snow. “Thin Ice”, the third single from the Houston rapper’s latest project, Tina Tuesday Freestyle, features a Limp Bizkit sample as Tina reenters the fray in a preview of Megan’s upcoming album, Act III.
“Tina is grown now, babe. She has been through lots of life since y’all heard from her last,” Megan said of her 2018 persona.
The single was preceded by “Is You Cool” and “Tina Tuesday”, both of which reveal how Megan’s alter ego isn’t playing around. So let’s see what she’s up to in “Thin Ice”.
Guess Who’s Back?
Tina is back, and with help from Limp Bizkit’s nu-metal rager, “Break Stuff”, she’s in the mood to cause some kind of commotion.
I’m back in that mode again,
I’m outside f***in’ these hoes again. (What?)
I’m viral as f**k, I bet you it’s Tina whenever you scroll again, ayy.
I post a pic of the a**, guess who’s on my phone again? (What?)
Next, she echoes The Notorious B.I.G.’s homage to the drug kingpin, Frank White—portrayed by Christopher Walken in King Of New York.
“B***h, they call me Tina Montana, I come in the club, it’s snowing,” she announces. This is Tina Snow as Al Pacino’s drug lord in Scarface. And the swaggering rap continues as Tina compares her cool to the Godfather of Soul, the sitcom Girlfriends, and Girls Gone Wild.
But, in case anyone’s confused, she’s the antithesis of mellow cigars and all things bland. This is Tina Snow we’re talking about.
I’m Black and I’m proud, the skin James Brown,
The body is smoking, no Black & Mild.
I need me a girlfriend like Toni Childs,
We lifting our T-shirts, goin’ wild, yeah.
“Break Stuff”
And if you’re in the mood to disrupt, there’s no better mashup than “Break Stuff” by Limp Bizkit. Released in 2000, at the height of nu-metal angry-man vibes, the track is driven by Wes Borland’s crushing guitar riff.
But it’s front man Fred Durst who acts like the ringleader of rage when he shouts:
Think you better quit,
Talking that sh*t.
It’s all about the he-say, she-say bullsh*t.
And that’s how Tina Snow begins and ends her braggy treatise on “Thin Ice”.
