After some teasing, Madonna has officially announced the “continuation” to Confessions on a Dance Floor will be released this summer.
In an Instagram post, Madonna shared the artwork for the new album, Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II, and announced it will be released on July 3. She once again worked with producer Stuart Price on the album, who she also turned to for its predecessor.
Madonna shared a statement about the release, saying, “When Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto: We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years โ they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connectโwith your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people. Sound, light, and vibration Reshape our perceptions Pulling us into a trance-like state. The repetition of the bass, we donโt just hear it but we feel it. Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.”
That attitude is apparent in the first teaser of the album. A snippet of opening track “I Feel So Free” features lyrics about the dance floor allows Madonna to be herself and “feel so free,” similar to the themes of her ’80s hit “Into the Groove.”
Madonna re-signed with Warner Records for the project. She shared her feelings on returning to the label, writing, “Since the beginning, Warner Records has been a real partner with me. I am happy to be reunited and look forward to the future, making music, doing the unexpected while, perhaps, provoking a few needed conversations.โ
Confessions II is Madonna’s first new studio album in seven years and her 15th overall. It is currently available for preorder in multiple formats, including CD, vinyl, and cassette. Her last album, Madame X, was released in 2019.
Confessions on a Dance Floor was released in 2005 and was Madonna’s 10th album. To mark its 20th anniversary in 2025, she shared a special-edition version on streaming services featuring three new songs.
