Radiohead Announces ‘Kid A Mnesia’ Immersive Installation Tour

After Radiohead presents their Kid A Mnesia immersive installation at Coachella this weekend, they’ll take it on the road.

The 75-minute film exhibit will debut at Coachella in a 17,000 square-foot underground bunker with 28 foot-high ceilings called Motion Picture House, specifically created for the project. A statement announcing the exhibit described it as “a narrative designed by its creators โ€” in Thom Yorkeโ€™s words โ€” ‘in which a Monster is trapped in a derelict museum of the lost & forgotten.’” The announcement also described the experience as “an opportunity for audiences to be completely enveloped in the world of Kid A and Amnesiac.”

It will also feature galleries of artwork by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and longtime collaborator artist Stanley Donwood created during the recording of the albums Kid A and Amnesiac. It will be set to a soundtrack based on those albums, with a custom built six-point surround system. It was directed by Sean Evans, and a trailer offers a glimpse at what fans can expect.

Kid A Mnesia will be open to all Coachella ticketholders across both weekends of the festival. After the festival, the exhibit will head to Brooklyn, Chicago, Mexico City, and San Francisco, with timed entry. The first exhibition will begin in May, and the final one will wrap up in February of 2027.

Radiohead will not be performing as part of the exhibit, but they did recently share plans to play 20 concerts across different continents starting in 2027. Individual members have also been busy. Guitarist Ed O’Brien will release solo album Blue Morpho in May and hinted that Yorke will also be releasing new music later this year.

Kid A Mnesia originally began as a virtual experience in 2021 for PC, Mac and PlayStation 5. Although it was always intended to be an in-person experience, plans changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pre-registration for the Kid A Mnesia tour is open through April 12 at 11:59 PM Pacific, and randomly selected fans will be able to purchase tickets through a pre-sale on April 22. Any remaining tickets will be released to the public on April 24.
