Smashing Pumpkins, Charli XCX, and Tate McRae to Headline Lollapalooza 2026

One of the largest summer music festivals has announced its 2026 lineup. Chicago’s own Smashing Pumpkins is among the headliners announced. Additionally, headliners include Charlie XCX, Tate McRae, Lorde, Olivia Dean, John Summit, Jennie, and The XX. The festival will take place July 30 through August 2, 2026, in Grant Park in Chicago.

Previously, Smashing Pumpkins played the festival in 1994 along with Green Day, the Beastie Boys, and Breeders. Charli XCX performed at the festival in 2022. In 2017, Lorde co-headlined the festival, but her set was cut short due to poor weather conditions.

For alternative music fans, the Grammy Award-winning hardcore punk band Turnstile will perform. Additionally, the up-and-coming rock group Geese was added to the lineup, a band that gained significant attention in the last year. The lineup also includes the English rock band Wet Leg, who will be the first musical guest featured on the first episode of SNL UK on Saturday, March 21. Ethel Cain will bring her Southern gothic, ambient style to the festival, which will make for a dark, theatrical performance.

For fans of hip-hop and R&B, the lineup includes former Disney Channel star Leon Thomas, who made a major statement with a phenomenal performance at the Grammy Awards. Thomas has embarked on a bold career, distancing himself from his Disney origins. Philadelphia-based rapper Lil Uzi Vert will be performing as well, who has opened up in recent years about his sobriety.

Additionally, others included in the 2026 lineup are The Chainsmokers, Yungblud, Sombr, and Major Lazer.

Origins of the Lollapalooza Festival

Lollapalooza takes place in Chicago, Illinois. The festival comprises 8 stages, spread throughout Grant Park in downtown Chicago. It draws 500,000 attendees over a span of four days. The festival is known for its diverse lineup, which often includes up-and-coming artists mixed with top artists of previous years and decades. Lollapalooza was created by Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Ferrell in 1991. Initially, the festival was meant to be a farewell tour for his band. Instead, the festival would tour the US yearly throughout the 1990s and 2000s. In 2010, it was announced that the festival would remain in its flagship city, Chicago, with other locations held annually outside the US.

Presale tickets are on sale starting March 19 on the festival’s website.
