The Site of The Beatles’ Final Concert Will Host Their New Museum in the UK

On January 30, 1969, The Beatles took to the rooftop of their label, Apple Corps, at 3 Savile Row and performed what would be their final concert. That location is now going to hold a museum for the Fab Four.

The exhibit, titled “The Beatles at 3 Savile Row,” will be the first official Beatles museum. It will allow fans to explore the building, with “seven floors of never-before-seen material” from the Apple Corps archives. The museum will also feature rotating exhibits, a fan store, and a re-creation of the studio where the band recorded Let It Be. Fans will also get the opportunity to relive the famous rooftop concert.

“We’re thrilled to bring Apple Corps back to its spiritual home and give The Beatles fans something truly special,” Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene said in a statement. “Every single day, fans are taking pictures of the outside of 3 Savile Row – but next year they can go in and explore all seven floors of the iconic building, including the rooftop where even the railings remain the same from that famous day in 1969.”

Paul McCartney also expressed his excitement. “It was such a trip to get back to 3 Savile Row recently and have a look around,” he said in a statement. “There are so many special memories within the walls, not to mention the rooftop. The team have put together some really impressive plans and I’m excited for people to see it when it’s ready.”

The Beatles first bought the building in 1968 and spent much of their time there. They fitted the basement with a recording studio, and each member had their own office. That famous rooftop concert the following year lasted about 42 minutes. It ended when the police arrived and pulled the plug. As for Apple Corps, it relocated in 1976 after the building was sold.

McCartney and fellow surviving Beatle Ringo Starr recently collaborated on the track “Home To Us”. The song will be on McCartney’s upcoming album, The Boys Of Dungeon Lane.

“The Beatles at 3 Savile Row” is scheduled to open next year. Additional information will be shared in the coming months.
