Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Announces Class of 2026 Inductees

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has shared which musicians made the cut and will be inducted under the Class of 2026.

The eight inductees in the 41st annual class are Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Billy Idol, Queen Latifah, Oasis, Sade, Joy Division/New Order, Wu-Tang Clan, and Luther Vandross. Although Collins is being inducted as a solo artist, he was also inducted previously as a member of Genesis. Wu-Tang Clan and Vandross are being inducted after being nominated just once, while Sade and Idol have been nominated twice. Oasis, Iron Maiden, and Joy Division/New Order have each been nominated three times. Sade is the only woman being inducted this year.

New Edition was the winner of the fan vote with one million votes. However, they did not make the final list of inductees. The final decision was made by a group of over 1,200 musicians, historians, and industry professionals.

The Hall of Fame Will Also Recognize Ed Sullivanโ€™s Impact on Music

The Hall of Fame also announced that variety show host Ed Sullivan will be this year’s recipient of the Ahmet Ertegun Award, which acknowledges โ€œnon-performing industry professionals who have had a major influence on the creative development and growth of rock & roll and music that has impacted culture.โ€ They will also honor Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and Gram Parsons with the Early Influence Award. Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller, and Rick Rubin will receive the Musical Excellence Award.

The inductees were announced during the โ€œRock & Roll Hall of Fame Nightโ€ episode of American Idol on Monday, April 13.

A total of 17 artists were nominated this year, the most of any year. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording.

The 2026 induction ceremony will be held on November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with ticket information to be released at a later date. The ceremony will air on ABC and Disney+ in December. The 2027 ceremony is slated for the Hall of Fame’s home in Cleveland.

Last year’s inductees included Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Salt-N-Pepa, The White Stripes, Carol Kaye, Nicky Hopkins, Lenny Waronker, Thom Bell, and Warren Zevon.
