Songfacts®:

  • This is a single released from Senegalese American hip hop/R&B performer, Akon's street album, The Koncrete Mixtape. The song's message concerns the struggle within our economic times and it features French Montana. The American rapper and singer was originally signed by Akon to his Konvict label in 2009, before leaving two years later due to delays in releasing his records. Montana subsequently linked up with Bad Boy but the pair remains close friends.
  • The song's music video finds Akon and Montana making their way to the gym, where we see the Konvict boss training up for an ultimate-fighting bout. Said Akon on BET's 106 & Park about the message behind the underdog boxer visual: "It's really to promote non-gun violence. If you got a problem with somebody, ya'll should just take it in the ring. We men, let's handle it. If we can't talk about it, then let's fight about it."
