Songfacts®:

  • This song, which Grant penned with Michael W Smith and her first husband Gary Chapman, was originally recorded by the singer on her 1982 breakthrough album, Age to Age.
  • Grant re-recorded the song for her 2010 album, Somewhere Down the Road and she explained why in publicity materials: "I took a trip with my sisters last year to California to visit our cousin. We were reminiscing about a similar trip we had taken together 35 years prior and how life can quickly go by in an instant. My cousin has a friend who is a chef and was giving us cooking classes. After a lovely meal, the chef's wife sat down and said 'I'd like to play a song that I've sung my whole life'. It was "Arms Of Love." I was so surprised because it was one of my favorite songs yet I hadn't heard it in year. So, I thought it would be great to do a remake for this album given the theme."
