  • For Aurora, being human is something to be savored, even though at times it's difficult to handle. "Some Type Of Skin'" is an introspective track where the Norwegian alt-pop singer talks of trying to find emotional resilience in a troubled world.

Speaking with BBC Radio 1's Clare Amfo, Aurora explained that the song "is very much about the act of the building our skin," a metaphor for navigating the tightrope walk between shielding your soft bits from the world's harshness and staying open enough to experience life's full spectrum. "And if you find the balance between both, I think life can be such a heavenly thing on earth," she said.
  • Aurora co-wrote and co-produced "Some Type Of Skin" with American songwriter and producer Chris Greatti (Yungblud, Grimes, Blink-182). It was mixed by Mitch McCarthy, who's polished the sounds of superstars like Olivia Rodriguez and Lady Gaga.
  • London's experimental vocal ensemble Shards add the ethereal choral layer. Singer, composer, and producer Kieran Brunt founded the collective in 2016.
  • Aurora debuted "Some Type Of Skin'" live on February 26, 2024 at Lafayette in London. She performed an intimate show there during BRITs Week 2024 for War Child.
  • Aurora released "Some Type Of Skin" through Decca and Glassnote Records on March 20, 2024, as the third single from What Happened to the Heart? The song is similar in nature to the album's lead single, "Your Blood," where Aurora discusses the nature of humanity.
  • Aurora co-directed the video alongside Iranian-Canadian film director Kaveh Nabatian (Without Havana, Kite Zo A: Leave the Bones). We see the singer, dressed all in white, dancing and moving through a room with black mannequins. Sometimes she caresses the faceless figures.

Nabatian previously directed Aurora's clips for "Your Blood" and "The Conflict of the Mind."

"Kaveh feels like a strange soulmate from another world," said Aurora. "When our minds collide it's always wonderful. It was wonderful to join minds once again, bringing loneliness to life - visually."
