Songfacts®:

  • One of two singles (alongside "Pure Grinding") released by Avicii on August 28, 2015, this features uncredited vocalist Alex Ebert hoping for better times ahead.

The son of a psychotherapist, Michael Ebert, and actress Lisa Richards. Alex Ebert is best known as the frontman of the American folk-rock band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
  • Filmed in Hungary in the summer of 2015, the videos for this song and "Pure Grinding" found Avicii making his directorial debut with Levan Tsikurishvili. This song's music clip stars Swedish actor Krister Henriksson and tackles the issue of child trafficking as we see the victims grow up and enact punishment on the people that hurt them many years earlier. "The promise of a better life often traps families and children into being used as tools for some of the most despicable people on earth," said Avicii. "It's an issue about which I hope to start a louder discussion, especially now with the huge number of families on the move from war torn countries looking for safety and shelter."
  • In May 2021, Stockholm's Ericsson Globe became the Avicii Arena in honor of the Swedish musician. Its new name was celebrated with a performance by the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra of "For A Better Day" with vocals provided by 14-year-old Swedish singer Ella Tiritiello.
