Songfacts®:

  • Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz) of Beastie Boys played all the instruments on this track, inspired by the likes of Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney who could do it all in the studio. "This song is special to me," he wrote in the Beastie Boys Book. "Because of my sloppy drumming, this song has a different kind of funky to it."
  • "Sneakin' Out The Hospital" is an instrumental, but on the Hello Nasty album it's preceded by a 20-second freestyle courtesy of Biz Markie:

Go by the name of the King Ad-Rock
Super educated, I'm smarter than Spock
Everytime you hear me, you will agree
Ain't no brother like the K-I-D
You know what I mean? Yup, yeah
I'm tellin' you with the echo... I'm tellin' you

The Beastie Boys loved having Biz in the studio. They didn't get a lot of work done with him around, but he did sometimes spit some rhymes that they could use - they just had to make sure tape was always rolling.

His part is sometimes listed as part of the previous song on the album, "Intergalactic."
