This was released as the first single from former Poison vocalist Bret Michaels' compilation album, Rock My World. It was the theme song for VH1's reality series Rock of Love with Bret Michaels and Rock My World was the soundtrack to the series.
The song won the 2008 BMI Award for Original Song of the Year for a Television Series.
Michaels recorded a dance-heavy club remix for his 2010 album, Custom Built. Jason Miller of Godhead did the re-mix of the song.
"The Way" by Fastball was inspired by the story of an elderly couple from Texas who drove to a nearby family reunion and kept going. Fastball's bass player imagined them taking off and having fun like they were young. The story didn't end well: the couple was later found dead after they crashed in a canyon.
"(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding" was written by Nick Lowe in 1974. The original version with his group Brinsley Schwarz was kind of somber, but Elvis Costello made it a classic with his 1978 uptempo take.
