Songfacts®:

  • "Go Down Singin'" takes us on a whirlwind journey through Chase Rice's Nashville career. From the early days of hustling on Music Row to the thrill of chart-topping success, it's all there.
  • Rice officially announced his departure from Broken Bow Records in June 2024, a label he called home since 2017.

This song is also a declaration of independence. Rice knows the risks involved in going out on his own, but he's ready to face them head-on, as he belts out with unwavering conviction, "If I go down, at least I go down singin'."
  • While Rice was laying down tracks for his seventh album, his relationship with Broken Bow was unraveling. "Go Down Singin'" became the heart of the project, telling the story he was living while recording the project. It also became the title track.

"I'm singing what I want and what I love," Rice said of the disc. "This album is about who I am now, not about trying to be someone else. That's the sentiment that runs through the entire record."
  • Rice wrote "Go Down Singin'" with Blake Pendergrass (Morgan Wallen's "Ain't That Some" and "Sunrise"). It was produced by Oscar Charles, who also helmed Rice's 2023 I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go to Hell album.
