Songfacts®:

  • Having penned "A Thousand Years," for the soundtrack to the first part of Breaking Dawn, Christina Perri needed very little persuading to re-record the song for Breaking Dawn - Part 2. "When I first read the books, like everybody else I fell in love with the love story between Edward and Bella," Perri told Yahoo! Movies. "Then, through the years, It's just become this gigantic thing with the movies and the soundtracks, and I'm very honoured to be a part of that."

The new version features vocals from actor and singer Steve Kazee. He won the 2012 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for his role in Once.
