Singer and guitarist Brandon Welchez had penned the melody and chords for "Sunday," but was struggling to put it all together. However, once bandmate Charles Rowell sent him a poem, he was able adapt its words to fit the song. Welchez told Spinner: "I did it in my in-law's guest bedroom and was too shy to sing loud, so the original version was in a different key, much deeper. A few months later Charlie flew out to NYC, and we arranged it and he wrote the bass line and guitar lead, which in my opinion, make the song."
"Here Comes Your Man" is the closest the Pixies came to a hit in America. It was rumored to be about a drug dealer, but Black Francis says it's just a story about some hobos who travel by train and die in an earthquake.
