Songfacts®:

  • "Falling Back" is an introspective track where Drake muses on a one-sided relationship. While he is genuinely in love with the woman, she sees him as her fallback lover – someone she considers a reserve when there's no one else available.

How do you say to my face, "Time heals"?
Then go and leave me again, unreal

Drake is the one putting all the effort into the relationship, yet his partner ignores his feelings.

How can you say that you know how I feel?
How can you say you know what I'm feeling?

The Toronto MC warns his girl not to test him too much. He might just call it quits and then she'll regret her lack of commitment.

What would you do without me?
I think you would lose everything
    Fallin' back on me
  • Drake released "Falling Back" as the first single from Honestly, Nevermind, dropping the video on the same day as the album's release. The record finds the OVO hitmaker singing and rapping his rhymes over dance-based beats.
  • The song features a fast-paced house instrumental courtesy of producers &ME and Rampa. Part of Berlin-based group, Keinemusik, they also collaborated on another Honestly, Nevermind track, "A Keeper."
  • The comedic polygamy-themed video sees Drake marrying 23 Instagram models. Filmed by Director X, the almost-10-minute-long clip features several cameos. They include Canadian-American professional basketball player Tristan Thompson as Drake's best man, the comedy group The Dan Band playing a wedding band, and Toronto-based rabbi Ari Sitnik as the rabbi. Drake's mom, Sandi Graham, also makes an appearance. She's the one telling a guest, "I think he's really taking these ones seriously."

At one point in the video, "Free YSL," written in green capital letters, appears on screen. The message shows support for the artists and affiliates of record label YSL Records held in jail without bond on racketeering charges, including Drake's previous collaborators, Young Thug and Gunna.
