Songfacts®:

  • On this somber tune, Drake details the various sacrifices he has made to climb the ladder of fame.

    And I'm convinced
I made sacrifices, I been ballin' ever since
We seein' so many blessings, s--t don't make no sense
Someone watchin' over us, so shout goes out to Him

Drake has given up a lot in order to reach the top of the rap game. However, he acknowledges that Jehovah (Dreezy's a Jew) has been watching over him as well.
  • Drake teams up with 2 Chainz and Young Thug on the cut. The two Atlanta rappers add some southern hip-hop flavor to the track as they rap about their expensive tastes.
  • Drake and 2 Chainz's previous collaborations include the hit singles "No Lie" and "All Me" plus the mixtape track "Big Amount."
  • Drake and 2 Chainz recorded about eight records to go for his project, but Dreezy still wasn't satisfied. Tity Boi told Vibe: "Drake is a perfectionist. I like to rap and I'm a perfectionist, but it was just about getting that record that we felt would hold some kind of substance that we could listen to over time like the previous records that we have."
  • Young Thug raps the third verse. A guest on Drake's The Boy Meets World tour, this represents the first time that the two artists have collaborated on a disc. Thugger also contributes to another More Life track "Ice Melts."
