Songfacts®:

  • "Search & Rescue" is a moody head-bopper where Drake speaks of his search for a romantic partner. He wants someone who can be patient with him and understand his lifestyle - a girl who will rescue him from being alone. Drizzy released the song on April 7, 2023.
  • Drake is on the hunt for his ride-or-die, but unfortunately, it doesn't sound like being one of the foremost hitmakers the music world has ever seen helps the cause of finding somebody to settle down with.

He needs a woman who's patient and won't drain his bank account. And while she doesn't have to be a baller, she's gotta love him for him. Sadly, Drake's regular spots aren't cutting it for meeting Ms. Right.

I need someone to be patient with me
Someone to get money with, not take it from me, look
They don't even need to be as famous as me
I don't think I'll meet 'em at the places I be

But Drake's not giving up, he's ready to settle down and start something real. In verse one, he owns up to his past dating fails. And on verse two, he's dishing out some advice for the ladies on how to keep him hooked.
  • Drake seemingly throws some major shade at Kanye West in "Search & Rescue" by inserting a clip of Kim Kardashian discussing their separation with her mom, Kris Jenner.

I didn't come this far, just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that.

The brief audio is from the 2021 season finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
  • As soon as "Search & Rescue" dropped, it blew up on social media. The cover art and lyrics referencing Kim Kardashian had fans wondering if a new feud was brewing between Drake and Kim's ex-husband, Kanye West.

So, is this a classic move by Drake to taunt Ye, given their beef history? To recap, the Toronto MC ignited it with his verse on Trippie Redd's "Betrayal," and Ye retaliated by exposing Drizzy's home address. But the Certified Lover Boy didn't back down. He fired back on "7AM On Bridle Path" and leaked Ye's collab with André 3000 on SiriusXM. They eventually made up and performed together at the Free Larry Hoover concert.

Nothing in this song's lyrics hint at beef between them, so maybe Drake is just stirring up drama to create interest in the single.
  • Drake teamed up with two producers for "Search & Rescue":

BNYX has worked with heavy hitters like Ty Dolla $ign, Coi Leray, and Yeat.

Sadpony, who's no stranger to the Drake-world. He produced "Jumbotron Sh-- Poppin," which was on Drizzy's joint album with 21 Savage, Her Loss.
  • The cover art for "Search & Rescue" features a headshot of Drake and British singer Lilah Pi wearing black motorcycle helmets. The two artists are facing each other, and their eyes are the only parts of their faces that are visible. American artist Mark Ryden designed the cover art.
