Songfacts®:

  • Dream (real name Clay) is an Orlando, Florida YouTuber content creator known primarily for his Minecraft videos. In February 2021 he launched another YouTube channel, "Dream Music," in order to diversify his content and add more subscribers. "Roadtrip" is his debut single.
  • The song finds Dream reminiscing about teenage road trips during which he used to drive for 20 hours up the East Coast from Florida to visit a girlfriend. Now, whenever he travels on that interstate, it "is paved with memories" of traveling to see his former love.
  • PmBata, a rapper and songwriter from Kansas City, Missouri, joins Dream on the track. He too recounts a 20-hour journey he used to take to visit an ex. In his case, the relationship became toxic; he recalls traveling in his old Ford, "across the Midwest, thinking, 'What for?'"
  • According to PmBata, they did the collaboration online via Discord after Dream unexpectedly messaged him. Dream asked him what he needed to record, and PmBata gave him a list. By the next day, he'd got everything he required and they laid down their vocals from their respective home cities.
  • Dream and PmBata each wrote their own verses. The Dutch beatmaker Banrisk and frequent PmBata collaborator Perish Beats produced the track.

  • Anon from Anon"Roadtrip" is actually one of my favorite songs, (2nd one is "Your New Boyfriend" by Wilbur Soot.) and not because of the sadness in the song, but actually because of how great Dream is at singing. And he's just really cool. And if dream ever sees this comment, then oh no. But, I mean, he is, though. He's just a really great person, and yes he might S C R E A M . I N . M Y . E A R S . But it's ok in the end. He's still one of my favorite Minecraft players. :). And Sappitus Nappitus is what I'm calling SapNap from now on. Just wanted to get it out there :). And yes I have crushes from the Dream SMP. (W, D/C, R, T. Figure that out or have me tell you. It's in the same comment.)
(It was Wilbur Soot, Dream/Clay, Ranboo, and TommyInnit.)(And also you would know I had a crush on them anyway, if you saw my Animal Crossing New Horizons wand outfits. And I made TommyInnit clothes in the game :). :)
