Songfacts®:

  • A red-hot romance is hard to sustain, but Dua Lipa thinks it might be possible in "Falling Forever," an upbeat dance song where she looks to keep that feeling of falling in love going forever.

Lipa says she "manifested" the lyric, meaning she fell madly in love after it was written. "Putting things into writing is powerful," she told Amazon Music. "You've got to ask for what you want."

The lucky guy is Callum Turner, an actor she started dating after recording the Radical Optimism album. At the time, he was starring in the TV series Masters Of The Air.
  • Dua Lipa songs have a lot going on and are often written by teams of songwriters. "Falling Forever" comes from Lipa, Caroline Ailin, Daniel Harle, Ali Tamposi, Emily Warren. It was produced by Ian Kirkpatrick, who is also credited as a writer. Ailin also had a hand in Lipa's hit "Dance The Night"; Tamposi has worked with everyone from Miley Cyrus ("Midnight Sky") to Ozzy Osbourne ("Patient Number 9); Warren and Kirkpatrick both worked on Lipa's earlier songs "New Rules" and "Don't Start Now."
  • "Falling Forever" was the last song Lipa recorded for the Radical Optimism album. When it was released, she was just 28 but already a huge star thanks to earlier hits like "Levitating" and "Dance The Night." The album's first single, "Houdini," was also a huge hit.

The album title reflects a newfound confidence for Lipa, which is evident on "Falling Forever" as she pushes her vocal range to the limits.
