  • "Retox" is kind of the opposite of "detox."

In a 2001 interview with Q, Fatboy Slim revealed that the song was inspired by a holiday he took with his then-wife, British broadcaster Zoe Ball, along with Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers and his then-girlfriend, Vanessa Rand. Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, shared: "We all went away on holiday together after Glastonbury Festival last year. The year before, we'd all had terrible comedowns, so this time we spent a detox week at a villa in Tuscany."

Cook continued: "But on the last night, we went to this vineyard and brought back a case of wine, which we drank. And Vanessa says, 'This detox thing is all very well, but I can't wait to go home and start retox.' So that inspired the track."

"Retox" was later released as a 12-inch vinyl single from Fatboy Slim's 2000 album Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars, peaking at #73 in the UK.
  • The song incorporates a sample of the drum beat from Daft Punk's remix of Gabrielle's "Forget About the World."
