Songfacts®:

  • This song finds French Montana making it clear that he has naturally good taste in fine clothing and jewelry.

    Iced out, no stylist
New Chanel, Saint Laurent, Gucci bag
    Lifestyle no stylist
Louboutin, Jimmy Choos, that's on you
Diamonds on my neck, frozen tears

French says he doesn't need to take any styling advice, unlike other rappers.
  • "No Stylist" features a contribution from frequent French collaborator Drake. It seems to be a follow up to their hit track "No Shopping," which was a similar braggadocio track about luxury items.
  • French recorded the track with Drake when they were working on his Scorpion cut "Elevate" in Miami. The rapper told Beats 1's Zane Lowe: "I just played him my music from my album. And he heard 'No Stylist' and fell in love with it and he was like, 'This is the one you and me should come out with.'"
  • Drake subliminally disses Kanye West during his verse when he alludes to the G.O.O.D. Music founder's Yeezy Boost 350 sneakers, saying his girl won't be wearing them in his presence.

Keepin' it G, I told her don't wear no 350s 'round me

Drake's beef with Kanye West dates back to Yeezy's production on Pusha-T's Drizzy-baiting track "Infrared." The Toronto MC responded with his own diss track "Duppy Freestyle."
  • This samples the drum break from Mountain's 1972 track "Long Red." It is one of the most sampled pieces of percussion in the history of Hip-Hop music, most notoriously by Jay-Z for his 2003 hit tune "99 Problems."
