  • Gener8ion is the audiovisual project of French electronic producer Surkin (real name: Benoit Heitz) and filmmaker Romain Gavras. Built on the concept that a track and its visual components should be developed side-by-side, the collaboration combines Surkin's music with Gavras's cinematic imagery. Their work blends dance-floor electronics, short films, installation art, and dystopian pop, producing music videos that play out like miniature movies.
  • Surkin has maintained a long career as a remixer, label co-founder, and advertising composer, known for his cut-up editing and heavily processed vocal samples. After studying contemporary art at Villa Arson in Nice, he moved to Paris and made his recording debut in 2006 with the Ghetto Obsession EP.
  • Surkin's track "Tiger Rhythm" from his Advanced Entertainment System EP later soundtracked Apple's "Don't Blink" commercial for the iPhone 7.
  • Surkin and Gavras were introduced in the 2000s by producer DJ Mehdi. Looking to pivot creatively, they launched Gener8ion in 2014. Gavras was transitioning from music videos toward feature films, having previously directed iconic visuals like Jay-Z and Kanye West's "No Church in The Wild" and M.I.A.'s "Bad Girls." Surkin had wrapped up years of club touring and was expanding into fashion, scoring runway shows for Rabanne designer Julien Dossena.
  • On April 24, 2026, Gener8ion released "Storm," a dual single featuring Swedish rapper Yung Lean. Comprising two distinct halves, "Storm I" and "Storm II," the release arrived with a short film directed by Gavras set in a British boarding school in the year 2034. The clip quickly became one of the year's most talked-about visuals.
