Songfacts®:

  • Co-written by George Birge with Colt Ford, Jaron Boyer and Michael Tyler, this song is about being obsessed by a new lover and wanting to spend the night with her.
  • Birge included the song on his self-titled debut album, released on February 18, 2022 through Bowers' Records Nashville. The label president, Ash Bowers, produced the track.
  • Records Nashville released the song as a single in October 2022. Media giant Bobby Bones lauded "Mind on You" as one of his "Top 3 Favorite Songs" and beamed the spotlight on Birge as his "National Spotlight Artist of the Week." "You got some heat on you right now," Bones enthused during an in-studio interview and performance on the Bobby Bones Show.
  • "Mind On You" also appears on Birge's self-titled debut album, released on May 12, 2023 alongside a stripped-down version, which turns on the sexy.

"People have kind of grown with this song and gotten to know this song, so we thought that it would be a cool continuation of the story for people to hear how it was created organically," Birge told People of the stripped-down take.

"It's a pretty romantic song. We figured we'd release a bit more laid-back version that people could get lost in as well."
  • On December 30, 2023, "Mind On You" debuted at #88 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking George Birge's rookie hit on the chart. Its arrival on the tally was helped by a remix featuring Kidd G and charlieonnafriday, released on December 15, 2023.
  • "Mind on You" nearly ended up in the hands of a country music titan. Back in 2020, amid a career shift and fresh off some setbacks, Birge co-wrote the catchy tune with Jaron Boyer, Michael Tyler, and Colt Ford. He remembers pitching it to Jason Aldean, a musical hero, and the thrill of receiving an email saying, "Jason wants it for his new record." This seemed like the golden ticket, a chance to break through with a major star.

Fast forward to 2021. Birge had just released "Beer Beer, Truck Truck," announcing his solo arrival and landing him a deal with Records Nashville. Enter Barry Weiss, the label's CEO. Upon hearing "Mind On You," he made a life-altering call to Birge.

"He said, 'We can't wait to work with you,'" Birge recalled to Billboard, "but that song you're giving to Jason Aldean, that's going to be your debut single. You need to ask for it back.'"

Birge faced a daunting dilemma. He was struggling financially, and handing over the song to Aldean meant immediate security. But Weiss' words resonated. This was a chance to bet on himself, to launch his own career on his own terms. He reclaimed "Mind on You" and released it as his debut single. It was a gamble, a "one-in-a-million long shot," as he puts it. But the song resonated with listeners, propelling Birge into the high echelons of the Country charts.
