  • GloRilla (Gloria Hallelujah Woods) is a Memphis rapper whose raw, hard-hitting delivery turned a gospel-choir upbringing into some of the loudest, most chantable party anthems of the 2020s. Her unfiltered, street-level storytelling has made her one of the leading voices in modern Southern hip-hop.
  • Born Gloria Hallelujah Woods in the Frayser neighborhood of north Memphis, she was named after her grandmother. She was the eighth of 10 children in a conservative Christian family that skipped Christmas gift-giving because they believed it stemmed from a pagan custom.
  • Her parents played gospel artists such as Kirk Franklin and Donnie McClurkin around the house. In 2024, GloRilla enlisted Franklin for the gospel track "Rain Down On Me" on her debut album, Glorious. She returned the favor in 2026 joining Franklin on his song, "This Time."
  • Her family was at church constantly. "If church could've been open seven days a week, we would've been there every day," GloRilla told Tamron Hall. She added she was not allowed to listen to secular music and was homeschooled by her mother until high school.
  • Chief Keef inspired her to rap and the young GloRilla was also a fan of the street rappers she saw on 106 & Park. Though they have different tastes in music, her parents have always backed her career choice. "My daddy know I be talking crazy. Him and my mama," she told Complex, adding, "They search me up on YouTube every day and find out everything I done did."
  • GloRilla was signed by Yo Gotti's CMG label after the success of her 2022 breakout "FNF (Let's Go)," made with producer Hitkidd. The song peaked at #42, the first charting entry for both her and Hitkidd. NPR named it their Best Song of 2022.

Yo Gotti announced her addition to CMG in July 2022 with a video of her signing the contract on a private plane. She said, "I've put in years of hard work to get this point and I'm blessed to sign with the hottest label in music with CMG."
  • Her debut album, Glorious, came out October 11, 2024. It earned a Best Rap Album nomination at the 68th Grammy Awards, and "TGIF" was nominated for Best Rap Song.
  • GloRilla's favorite dish is fried fish and spaghetti, and she also is a big fan of Southern soul food. "I love turkey necks," she told SZA in a 2023 Interview magazine conversation. "I love soul food. I've been eating chicken tenders a lot lately." In the same conversation, she noted, "Food be nasty everywhere else, especially LA." She flies in her cook from Memphis to prepare meals for her when she is in LA or Florida.
