Songfacts®:

  • Latin pop singer Gusttavo Lima grew up in the Brazilian town of Goiânia. In 1998, when Gusttavo was just 9, he joined a choir as a soloist and later taught himself guitar. After leaving home to pursue a career in showbiz, Lima performed in clubs for a number of years, before eventually signing with the Som Livre label. His debut album with them, Inventor dos Amores, spawned two minor hits, the title track which reached #24 on the Billboard Brasil chart and "Cor de Ouro" which peaked at #21.
  • This song became his first international success, helped by Brazilian football player Neymar's promotion of the tune. It became a huge chart hit in most of Europe, spending a record 13 weeks at #1 in the Netherlands as well as reaching the summit in France, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland and Switzerland.
  • 'Balada' translates in English to "Party."
  • Lima penned the song with Cássio Sampaio. Its full title is, "Balada Boa (Tchê Tcherere Tchê Tchê)" based on the famous refrain.
