  • Lead singer Richard Archer told the Daily Telegraph August 9, 2007 how this song was about the daily grind of ordinary suburban life far from the metropolitan media limelight in the band's hometown of Staines. The Hard-Fi front man said: "Where we come from is central to what we do. The thing about Staines is that it could be any town, it's the satellite of a big city where most people tend to live out their lives, but you would never know it from the media, all these Londoners with more money than sense who mock the suburbs. Before all of this, I was sat at home listening to the radio, reading the music press, and no one was saying anything about our lives - it was all about who was hanging out in Camden with Kate Moss, and it was very exclusive, like 'We are having this intimate, amazing party and you're not invited.' Well, this is our retort."
  • Archer told the NME: "Suburban Knights is just made to celebrate the amazing people who live in the real world. You have to be creative living in suburbia and we wanted to celebrate that."
