Letter To B.I.G.

Album: The Last Kiss (2009)

  • Jadakiss' musical correspondence with his former friend and labelmate Biggie Smalls features the deceased rapper's widow, Faith Evans.
  • Jadakiss told MTV News that it was his stylist Groovey Lew who came up with the idea for this track. He explained: "Groovey Lew, when I was getting the production for [my new] album, he was like, 'You should do a letter to Big on the new album.' I was like, 'That might be corny, Groov,' " Kiss added: "The beat really played a big part. Then my man Ice Pick, my A&R [rep], called me, like, 'Yo, you gotta hear this beat. It's crazy.' I said, 'This might be the letter.' Then I got in the studio - the 'Letter' came to life."
  • In this song, Jadakiss name-checks some of B.I.G's most-famous accessories, including his Coogi sweater. Groovey Lew is credited with giving Biggie his first Coogi sweater.
  • This song featured on the soundtrack of Biggie's 2009 biopic, Notorious.
