  • Jake Bugg explained the meaning of this dark acoustic ballad to Q magazine. "It's about someone who doesn't like to go out and keeps their curtains drawn," he said. "But if I reveal who, then the mystery of the song is lost."
  • Bugg expanded on the bleak song's storyline to IHeartRadio: "That's about somebody that's a bit of a recluse, and they don't really like to go out that much and keep themselves, and kind of dig a dark hole for themselves."
  • This was inspired by Bugg's own feelings of solitude and seclusion when he's touring. He told The Sun: "That song is about loneliness and I wrote it when I was in a hotel room in LA. I get to meet a lot of people but being on the road is lonely at times."

"The truth is because I am away so much, having a long-term relationship is something that is quite difficult at the moment," Bugg continued. "I'm committed to my music and I can't be taking time out here and there. I'm focusing on my music, as this is everything I've ever wanted."
  • Ozzy Osborne's slow descent into madness during a three-month stay in Hollywood's La Parc Suite hotel in the 1970s was an inspiration for this track, as Bugg found himself in the same hotel. "There must have been something in the air as I was in a dark room and wrote a dark song," he recalled. "It's about a specific someone who doesn't want to go out and keeps their curtains drawn. But I think we all have days when we feel like that, so it could be about anyone."
  • The song's music video was directed by Bugg's longtime collaborator, the film director Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror, U Want Me To Kill Him?). The clip stars Zarina Nares, who is the daughter of famed artist James Nares.
