Songfacts®:

  • "My Place" is a feel‑good Ibiza‑inspired house love song by Josh Baker and singer-songwriter Poppy Baskcomb about that moment at the end of the night when two people decide to leave the party together and see if their chemistry is real in a more intimate, personal setting.

"It's a track that feels just as at home soundtracking those early evening moments as it does filling big rooms and carrying people through into the afters," said Baskcomb.
  • Poppy Baskcomb is a Portsmouth‑born singer‑songwriter and dance vocalist who has written and sung for the likes of Joel Corry ("I Wish") and Sonny Fodera ("Think About Us").
  • Josh Baker and Poppy Baskcomb wrote the song with Mark Ralph, a producer/composer who has worked with Clean Bandit, Jax Jones, Silva Bumpa and many other dance‑pop artists. Co-writers Luca Cazal and Rhys Kirkby-Cox also stepped in, helping shape a record that balances warm, emotive melodies with a peak-time, club-ready groove.
  • The idea for the track came together around January 2026, when Baker was determined to make a proper summer banger. He had been impressed by Poppy Baskcomb, whose vocal on Sonny Fodera's "Think About Us" had caught his attention the previous year.

"I was like, who the hell is singing on that?" Baker recalled to Official Charts. The funny part was that he already knew Baskcomb and had worked with her before, making his discovery of her voice slightly less of a detective story than it initially appeared.

Baker set out to push his sound further and see just how big he could make the record, while still keeping the energy that had made him a dancefloor artist in the first place. His goal was to create something that captured his idea of the perfect summer track without sacrificing its club credentials.
