  • "Miracle" is Judah & the Lion's celebration of the idea that life isn't just happening to us, it's happening for us. Lead singer Judah Akers uses the track to flip the usual definition of a miracle on its head. In his eyes, you don't need the Red Sea to part or a dead person to rise to witness one. Sometimes a miracle is simply getting out of bed in the morning, which, let's be honest, can feel like a major achievement before that first cup of coffee.

"Some people think that a miracle has to be some big, dramatic event," Akers explained. "But it's like, what if a miracle is waking up in the morning? What if the miracle is a cardinal showing up in your yard after your grandpa died? What if a miracle is the flowers growing? What if a miracle is being there for a buddy? It's these types of small things. Especially with how negative the world is, let's think about the things that are beautiful."
  • The track captures where Akers and bandmate Brian Macdonald were personally when they wrote it. Macdonald had recently become a father, an experience he felt couldn't be described as anything short of miraculous.

For Akers, the song arrived during a fresh chapter of his own. After processing his painful divorce on Judah & the Lion's 2024 album The Process, he found love again with Sina George. The two got engaged in September 2023 and tied the knot in June 2024. So while Macdonald was navigating the wild world of parenthood, Akers was experiencing his own kind of rebirth.

"I think 'Miracle' is just a beautiful representation of the stage of life that both of us are in right now," Macdonald said. "Especially with me having kids, miraculous is truly one of the only ways you can describe that feeling."
  • Akers and Macdonald wrote "Miracle" with James Trone and co-produced the track alongside Jeremy Lutito, a Nashville producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who previously toured with Jars of Clay and makes up one-half of the rock duo Leagues.
