Songfacts®:

  • "Tus Gafitas" translates as" your spectacles." Every night, Karol G thinks about her romantic interest and longs to see him again, especially since he left his glasses in her car. She keeps them as a memento to remember how good they look on him.
  • This wistfully romantic track has a bouncy rock vibe. A collaboration with Billie Eilish's brother and producer Finneas, Karol G call it calls her "most naive song yet."

"I realize I come off as though I'm a little girl in love for the first time," she emphasized to Variety, "but that was the only way I could allow myself the freedom to write a song like that."
  • In 2022, Karol G crossed paths with Finneas in Austin, where they discussed collaborating on a project. She expressed her desire to create something meaningful and grand, explaining that she wanted the song to have a significant impact.

While on a plane to Cairo to film the "Cairo" video, Karol composed "Tus Gafitas" and knew instantly it was the one. Upon landing, she reached out to Finneas, sharing her vision of infusing the track with a rock vibe to make it distinctive. "The fact that that song is so mine, so special, and I have such a maestro working on it, is incredible," she told Billboard.
