Songfacts®:

  • On "Another Drink," Kelsea Ballerini takes a classic post-breakup move - heading to a bar with friends - and gives it an electronic dance twist. Over Marshmello's EDM-infused country beat, she revisits a familiar watering hole, casually brushing off an admirer who assumes his truck and charm are enough to buy her a drink.
  • Rather than wallowing in heartbreak, Ballerini keeps things simple: she just wants another round. The "another drink" hook turns the title into an easygoing rally cry for moving on; there's no reason to sit at home staring at old photos when there's a night out waiting.
  • The track sparked fan speculation following Ballerini's split from Outer Banks actor Chase Stokes. But with no confirmation of a direct connection, the song works best as a general breakup anthem rather than a specific tell-all.
  • Ballerini and Marshmello co-wrote "Another Drink" with Alysa Vanderheym, Nashville songwriter Jessie Jo Dillon, Joel "Castle" Castillo, and Earwulf.

Alysa Vanderheym is one of Ballerini's most frequent creative partners.

Castle and Earwulf regularly produce alongside Marshmello, including teaming up on his Kane Brown collaboration "Miles On It."
  • Marshmello's first collaboration with a country artist was "One Thing Right" with Kane Brown, which was released in 2019. Since then his country crossovers have included "Miles On It" again with Kane Brown, "Better Man Than Me" with Hudson Westbrook, "Holy Water" with Jelly Roll and "Where We Go" with Thomas Rhett.

Marshmello said he loved "the challenge of bringing my own approach to country production on this track," thanking Ballerini for trusting his vision.
  • The single arrived on June 26, 2026, during a period of creative transition following Ballerini's move from Nashville to New York City, a change of scenery she said began shaping "what my kind of country sounds like in a city."

Ballerini, a longtime friend and fan of Marshmello, described "Another Drink" as a summertime track that finally allowed them to "combine our worlds."
