Songfacts®:

  • Cole sings on this slow ballad about being trapped in a relationship with an unfaithful partner, who even brought his mistress to their crib.

How could bring that women into our home
Where my baby lay, Damn right It's over
The crazy part about is I took you right back (Right Back)
I thought you were a changed man
I tried to work it out for the sake of our family

The song appears to mirror Cole's split from husband, NBA player Daniel "Boobie" Gibson, with whom she has a son and whom has been hit with cheating rumors in the past. However the songstress refused to confirm to MTV News that the tune is about her real-life situation pointing out her 2008 single "Heaven Sent," was written about her cousin. "It just depends on what's around me, what I see, what I'm going through," she said of her creative process, "and how I can reflect on that while I'm writing."
