Songfacts®:

  • This is a short duet between two women; the winner gets the man, and the loser... is the man!

"He's My Man" is one of the songs from the ill-named musical Street of Dreams, which is based on the long-running soap opera Coronation Street; it has words and music by Trisha Ward.

The two fictional characters in question were Rita Fairclough (who at the time the show was produced was still appearing in Coronation Street, as Rita Sullivan); and Elsie Tanner, who last appeared in it January 4, 1984. The actress who played her, Pat Phoenix, died in 1986. Phoenix was once described by a British Prime Minister as the sexiest woman on television. >>
